ACCESS STATEMENT
We aim to cater for the needs of most visitors in our 5 bedroom bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our offer. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Local transport
The nearest train station is St Austell, 6 miles from Mevagissey. There is a regular service between St. Austell and Mevagissey, from 7am to 11pm.
There is a bus stop on School Hill and the B3273, both of which are within 350 meters, it should be pointed out that Mevagissey is particularly hilly in places.
There is a St Austell based taxi company called Spot On Cabs, they can be contacted on 0044 (0)1726 66999. We would be happy to make a booking for you if you’d like.
Information and menus can be provided in a large print. We are also happy to talk you through our services in detail at any time.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities
We offer parking for up to 3 cars and there is room for all cars to come and go if considerately parked. We also have an arrangement with the large town car park for discounted parking. Please contact us if you would like us to email you a parking plan. The surface is level and cars are left at owner’s risk. We are in the town and the harbour town is a 2 minute walk away. We are happy to assist guests with luggage before and after checking in.
Check-in time is between 4pm and 6pm. You may try outside of these times but please do not be disappointed if we happen to be out doing errands. If the room is not ready outside of check- in times you are welcome to leave your luggage with us and park your car in our car park if space is available.
General property
The property was built in the 1850’s and as such has some features that reflect this period. Parts of the building have slanting doorways, slightly uneven flooring and thick walls that are not all straight.
Main entrance and reception
The front door has one step which is 14cm high and is concrete. The front door is 200cm wide and has 6cm step at the door frame. There is fitted carpet throughout the ground floor.
Public Area – Internal
Corridors are lit and have fire safety exit lights. The covering on stairs and upstairs corridors is short pile carpet. The breakfast room is on the ground floor. There are 12 stairs to the landing which are 20cms high, 84cm wide and **cm deep. There are 6 stairs down to the lower ground floor mezzanine level.
Public Areas – WC
All bedrooms have an en-suite or private bathroom. There is no public WC available.
Dining Room / Lounge
Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor. There are no steps from the main hallway. Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request. Tables have under space of 72cm (communal table) and 74cm (small table) the communal table has legs in each corner and the smaller table has a central pedestal. There are wooden chairs without arms. The door is 78 cm wide and opens inwards.
Menus are provided in large print upon request.
We play background music with breakfast, however we can review this should it cause accessibility issues.
Old parsonage staff do not occupy the communal areas. There is a bell in the hallway to ask for the attention of staff between the hours of 8am and 8.30pm. Emergency contact numbers for staff are in the room books provided in each room. Please call the emergency services first and then the Old Parsonage Staff.
Bedrooms
The Old Parsonage offers: 1 double bedroom on the ground floor, 1 kingsize, 1 twin / superking and 1 single bedroom on the 1st floor. 1 Single on the lower ground floor. One bedroom – Room 5- has a private bathroom with bath; all other bedrooms have en-suites with showers.
Ground floor double – Room 1
This is a double bedded en-suite room on the ground floor facing the street through a sash window. The room comprises of a UK standard double bed, two side tables, chest of drawers, soft chair and open wardrobe, plus en-suite shower room. Free floor space at the end of the bed is 82 x233cm. This room also contains a television with remote control. Flooring in the bedroom is fitted short pile carpet. The width of the bedroom door is 78cm and opens inwards. The width of the bathroom door is 66cm, this opens outwards. Toilet height is 40cm, the curved, wall mounted sink is 71cm high. The entrance to the shower is 69cms, width of shower is 104cm, and depth of shower is 86cm and it is triangular shaped and tiled. The shower cubicle has a step/edge 17cm high. The floor is non- slip linoleum.
Twin room – Room 2
Room 2 is to the left of the stairs on the first floor. The width of the bedroom door is 73cm and opens inwards. There is fitted short pile carpet in this room. Free floor space between the door and the first bed is 109cm x 180cm plus additional free floor space between the furniture at the bottom of the bed of 86cm x 290cm. There are two framed standard UK single beds that zip together into a superking bed, two bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a remote control TV. The width of the bathroom door is 66cm opening outwards into the bedroom. Free floor space is 140 x 95cm. The shower cubicle has a step/edge 14cm high. Width of the shower cubicle access is 66cm, depth of shower is 86cm, width 104cm, triangular shaped. Height of basin 86cm. Basin is curved and wall mounted. Toilet is 41cm high. The floor is non -slip linoleum.
Double – Room 3
Room 3 is on the right hand side on the first floor. The width of the bedroom door is 73cm and opens inwards. There is fitted short pile carpet in this room. The bed is standard size UK king size with a bed frame. There are 2 bedside tables, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe and a remote control TV. Free floor space is 220 x 214cm.
The width of the bathroom door is 67cm opening outwards into the bedroom. The shower cubicle has a step/edge 12cm high. Width of the shower cubicle access is 63cm, depth of shower is 85cm, width 103cm, triangular shaped. Height of basin 77cm. Basin is rounded and mounted on a pedestal. The toilet is 41cm high. The floor is non -slip linoleum.
Single – Room 4
Room 4 at the top of the stairs on the first floor. The width of the bedroom door is 77cm and opens inwards. There is fitted short pile carpet in this room. The bed is standard size UK single. There is a chest of drawers, a clothes hanging area, a chair and a remote control TV. Free floor space between the furniture along the side of the bed is 170cm x 110cm.This room has a separate bathroom on the landing between the ground and first floors, down 6 stairs from the room. The bathroom door is 71cm and has a shower over bath. The standard size bath has a height of 59cm. The flat fronted pedestal basin is 82cm high. Toilet is 41cm. The floor is non -slip linoleum.
Single – Room 5
Room 5 is on the mezzanine level between the lower ground and ground floor, 6 steps down from the ground floor.
The width of the bedroom door is 71cm and opens inwards. There is fitted short pile carpet in this room. The bed is standard size UK single with a bed frame. There is a bedside table, storage for clothes, a wardrobe and a remote control TV. Free floor space is 110 x 200cm.
The width of the bathroom door is 71 cm with a sliding door. The shower cubicle has a step/edge 10cm high. Width of the shower cubicle access is 52cm, depth of shower is 67cm, width 72cm. Height of basin 80cm. Basin is rounded and wall mounted. The toilet is 43cm high. The floor is non- slip linoleum.
Grounds and gardens
Sadly not available to guests due to the close proximity to our private living accommodation.
Additional information
Mobile phone reception is varied depending on the network.
We are able to use the front door in the event of an evacuation, we also have a rear fire exit should the front door become obstructed. This is 12 steps down from the ground floor and is indicated with signage and emergency lighting; there is one step at the back door. The fire alarm bell rings continuously if evacuation is needed. If you require assistance for evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely.
We are happy to take delivery of hired equipment such as bikes, please let us know full details.
We are a non- smoking building.
We can put items of medication in our main fridge on request (not available 24hrs).
Hours of Operation
Hours flexible to the business, the B&B is our home so occupied 24 hours. Mainline telephone is answered between 8am and 9.30pm.
Directions
Follow the M5 South to Junction 30 and then take the A30, take the A391 to St Austell, then the A390, then the B3273 to Mevagissey. Enter the Mevagissey one way system. To park a car at the rear of the property take the first small road on the left (after the Sunny Corner Car park) continue past the no admittance sign and we are the last building on the right before the metal gate. There are two car park bays on the right and room for a small vehicle in front of the garage door.
To stop outside the front of the property (double yellow lines) take the second left onto Church Street.
