About
The Old Parsonage in Mevagissey
"At the beach, life is different. Time doesn’t move hour-by-hour, but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun." Set in the picturesque fishing village of Mevagissey, The Old Parsonage is a family run guest house. The charming building dates back to the mid-19th century and has 5 beautiful cosy guest bedrooms, 4 are en-suite and one with a private bathroom. The house is located only moments from the heart of the village, with it’s harbour, shops, restaurants and pubs. The Old Parsonage is well placed to visit Cornwall’s famous beaches, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, historic houses and gardens, the Eden Project, dramatic coastline and, Cornish villages. Take a glorious walk, enjoy the popular cycle route or hire a boat. Whatever time of year you choose to visit, whether during the busy summer season or in the crisp winter months. The Old Parsonage remains the same with a home from home feel, excellent service and delicious homemade foodmeals. For those who would like to book out the whole house, we're delighted to accommodate groups looking for a charming house, comfortable rooms and delicious food. We look forward to welcoming you soon! The Old Parsonage as it has that extra WOW factor Stuart H - Stayed March 2018I have been trying to think of something to write that no one has written on their reviews but I can’t. Every review is exactly how we experienced our fantastic stay at The Old Parsonage. We arrived with a warm welcoming from Izzy who took our bags and offered us tea or coffee. Izzy came across as a friend you have known for years. Izzy gave us great ideas where to go, what to see, before we knew it we had a road trip with a map all marked out. It was great! The B&B is very clean, nicely decorated and a great location to walk down to the harbour front (few mins). The breakfast was delicious, all made from local ingredients. We will be going back to The Old Parsonage as it has that extra WOW factor that we have never had at any other B&B. Thanks Izzy and Tim read live

Izzy's breakfast specials are the stuff of legendBirmingham UK - Stayed February 2018Sarah and I have stayed here several times now, and we would never leave without booking our next visit.. Izzy and Tim and such amazing hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Our room (1 where you can bring your dog) is always 100% clean and fresh and the new king size Hypnos mattress was wonderful! Fresh milk and water appear as if by magic outside your door - another magical touch. And Izzy's breakfast specials are the stuff of legend. Made from local produce (they are champions of anything local that reaches their high standards) they are simply delicious - light-as-a-feather buttermilk pancakes with fresh fruit or bacon and maple syrup is my current favourite. Probably the best B&B we've stayed in!Miss Dee Pee - Stayed October 2017Everything about this place is special, the renovation has been done beautifully, the breakfast is exceptionally good and you won't find more welcoming, friendly people than Izzi and Tim. The bathrobes were a nice surprise, the toiletries are great quality, in fact all of the produce is of such a high quality and locally sourced. If you are visiting Heligan or Eden project during your stay you get 15% off if you buy your tickets from Izzi and Tim. Also this will get you a year pass for Eden. There is a proper breakfast menu to choose from and Izzi also does a different daily special, as well as baking fresh blueberry muffins! When we told them we had recently got married in Cornwall we arrived back the next day to a lovely card, fudge, and 'Mr & Mrs' pillows, which was such a thoughtful touch! We wish we could have stayed longer, and now cannot wait to visit the Old Parsonage again. read live
“Best Breakfast on the entire trip”Merrilee M - Stayed October 2017The owners, Tim and Izzy, are real sweethearts and are doing an amazing job. Their rooms are spotless, exceptionally well-appointed, and there is plenty of room. Every comfort has been thought of--from bathrobes to toiletries and tea trays with fresh milk delivered to your door. Our party of four rated Izzy's breakfast as the best of the best. We've eaten at a lot of exceptional B & B's in our lifetimes, but Izzy sets the bar very high. We loved her Polish egg scramble and warm-from-the-oven blue berry muffins. And we appreciated Tim's offer to help with the luggage. And there's easy parking, which isn't always available in these old villages. You won't beat the Old Parsonage for peace and quiet either (they had a full house, but we were surprised to learn that next morning since we hadn't heard a peep). read live
“Unbeatable experience and value”UK - Stayed November 2017We were not disappointed, were quietly ecstatic and could not believe what we had discovered. The Sunday Times testimonial from this October captures it so accurately. We had the room on the ground floor opposite the breakfast room and it had been beautifully refurbished and decorated. The bathroom had been recently upgraded and was better than many 4* hotels we have stayed in. We truly loved the experience and left clutching warm muffins pressed into our hand by Iza as she emerged from the kitchen to say goodbye. We are still talking about it days later and is really the best B&B we have ever stayed in read live

Breakfast was amazing, all top quality locally sourced ingredients (even the tomato sauce). It was a kind of communal breakfast and was nice to have a chat with some interesting characters. The fruit salad and choice of local jams and spreads were all great,we wanted to try everything. The little extras made this stay extra special, fresh muffins every morning. My room was not what I expected, the whole room was finished to a really high standard, with underfloor heating and a waterfall shower, plus a smart TV. The large bed was very comfy, which is a massive plus in my book! Breakfast is cooked fresh each day by the wonderful Izzy using locally sourced ingredients with a daily special, served in a the small but lovely lounge/dining area. The best B&B I have been lucky enough to stay inMelissa - Stayed September 2017The best B&B I have been lucky enough to stay in. We were made to feel so welcome by Izzy when we arrived, including our dog, who was allowed to mooch around so she felt "settled" - so thoughtful. We had the beautiful ground floor room, which was beautifully appointed and homely. The happy birthday pillows and card were a lovely touch and really appreciated. The breakfast was top quality, masses of choice, lots of local produce (even the red sauce, marmalade & peanut butter were Cornish!) and it was all beautifully served by Tim and freshly cooked by Izzy. Can not recommend this place highly enough, so much more than your normal B&B, just perfect. Well done Izzy and Tim, you are delivering what true hospitality should be all about. Utterly fabulous!Ripyer - Stayed September 2017Excellence - from a very warm welcome (even though I was early) to the friendly check-out... and everything in between. My room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and so warm and cosy I immediately felt at home. There was everything I needed - including wifi. Whilst the property faces onto a road, it's a very narrow one and traffic is light. I couldn't hear anyone else even though the house was full, wasn't disturbed through the night at all, bed was soooo comfortable and the seagull alarm coupled with fresh sea air next morning was a pleasure. Delicious freshly prepared and cooked breakfast was served in the dining room, conversation was easy amongst hosts (who ensured we were fed like kings) and the other guests - some who have stayed before. I wasn't alone in booking my return trip to The Old Parsonage. read live

“Simply Stunning!”Clair W - Stayed September 2017I have had various experiences with B&B’s over the years, but this was on another level. This B&B was simply exquisite. From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. Izzy and Tim were the perfect hosts and could not have done anything more to make us feel welcome. The rooms are a delight and have everything you need. With Wonderful comfy beds and an amazing shower (which makes all the difference), you are given local tea and coffee and fresh milk and water every day, with even a ginger biscuit to nibble on, should you find yourself peckish. Breakfast is simply a feast of delights. You can sit down to cereal and toast or tuck into the full Cornish breakfast. If that doesn’t take your fancy, Izzy makes a daily special (which I had every day), which makes a lot of 5 star hotels look bad. To be honest I almost hesitate in recommending The Old Parsonage and want to keep it a secret, as I know in the months to come they will simply be full…and quite rightly too. On arrival, after her welcome, Izzy is more than happy to give you a complete run down of where to go, what to do and where to eat & drink. She exudes enthusiasm while living her, Tim and the girls dream. The property has been renovated to a high standard offering modern convenience. The room was clean with an immaculate en suite. Izzy puts out a great breakfast, plenty of everything and a daily extra on the menu such as Haddock or Polish sausage served by Tim. Oh... and the blueberry muffins, mmmm. “Perfect in every way!”Glenn - Stayed September 2016This is a fantastic B&B. My first experience was having to phone The Old Parsonage to explain that my train had broken down and I'd be 3 hours late, but Iza could not have been more friendly and helpful, knowing the numbers and times of buses and giving me her personal number to call when I arrived. When I did eventually arrive I received the warmest welcome I have ever had at a B&B, making me instantly feel relaxed and 'at home'. I booked a (cheap!) single room with a single bed, which was cosy, immaculately clean with clever use of the space available. Nice big TV too! Perfect. Breakfast was served in a very pleasant environment and was both hearty and delicious, with locally-sourced ingredients of high quality. Iza's home-made blueberry muffins were also a delight, and as a fan of these I got to leave each day with the leftover ones that other people didn't eat! The location was also perfect, only a short stroll from the harbour. Often what makes the difference between a good B&B and a great one is the people running it. I never got to meet her husband Tim as he was away when I stayed, but Iza is obviously thoroughly enjoying running The Old Parsonage and really cares that you enjoy your stay. Her enthusiasm for Mevagissey and her life there is contagious and you'll leave in the morning well rested, well fed and with a big smile on your face. I know I did. Brilliant. read live

The decor is lovely, the room is quiet, clean and tidy with tea, coffee and fresh bottled water. The shower is surprisingly powerful and the lemongrass shower gel was gorgeous. The breakfasts at the Old Parsonage are marvellous. Tea, coffee, juices, full Cornish breakfast, Polish options ( I had the eggs on bacon as part of my Cornish breakfast and it was to die for), homemade muffins, cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurts. The room had double aspect but no views (this did not bother us in the slightest). You can walk to the harbour within a couple of minutes and is a very easy walk. Breakfast was a choice of both cold & hot variety with the added 'special' each morning. This was a real treat. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again and to recommend to others. “The perfect B&B to stay in Mevigessy - just charming”Mel - Stayed April 2016My husband and I stayed at the Old Parsonage recently and could not have been happier with our choice. Iza and Tim are the new owners and have done excellent work redoing the home with outside patio for guests and the results are charming. Our room was lovely with a very comfortable bed, all newly decorated. Our full Cornish breakfast cooked and served by Iza was absolutely delicious. Located near the harbor, The Old Parsonage is a perfect location to wander through the village of Mevigessy, as well as a short drive to the Eden Project and Heligan Gardens. “Positive and Enthusiastic!”Clare - Stayed April 2016We stayed here for easy access to the Eden Project. I first picked this B&B for the quiet area, how close it is to the pretty harbour for an evening walk to explore the area and for ease. The B&B itself is run by a lovely family. We were welcomed in by Iza, she was keen to tell us about the building and we were interested to learn the history too. She also told us about herself and their five year plan for the business as they have only just bought the property. It's already got a lot of character and the plans sound really positive, just like Iza and her family. Our room was the double on the ground floor. I've never stayed in a bed that feels so much like a great big marshmellow! So comfy! So very comfy! The room was complete with an en suite with the most amazing smelling hand/body/hair wash which was produced locally in the county. Soft towels and fluffy dressing gowns also provided. Breakfast was perfect; fruit, cereal, juice and a full English to set us up for the day! Again local produce and very tasty! The room comes along with a guest lounge/dining room complete with games, music and books. It was very welcoming! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the area. We'll be sure to book here again if we are back in the area. Thanks for a wonderful stay :)read live
